From their modest beginning in 1983, the QSAR Workshop series has developed into a highly anticipated International forum held every other year. The founding Workshop focused on environmental toxicology but the broad nature of the QSARs led to the introduction of additional topics as early as the second meeting. By the fourth Workshop (the first held in Europe), discussions were expanded to include techniques, descriptors, environmental fate, and the application of QSARs. The diversity of topics has continued to expand to include physical/chemical and environmental properties, human health effects, statistical analysis, and modeling methodology. Klaus Kaiser, the organizer of the first and second Workshops, discussed the evolution of the Workshop during the opening presentation at QSAR 2004 in Lyon, France. The International Workshop series has become an important forum for the early dissemination of all aspects of qualitative and quantitative structure-activity research and application. Over the last few decades, the QSAR discipline has emerged as a major scientific methodology to aid in our understanding of the behavior of chemicals in the environment as well as their potential to express adverse affects. The International QSAR Workshops, listed below, have been a significant contributor to this progress.
QSAR 2008, the 13th Workshop in the series, will be held in Syracuse, New York, United States of America Organizers: Steering Committee:
