May 2001: The
EPI Suite is now available from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
via free Internet download from the following web-page:
www.epa.gov/oppt/exposure/docs/episuitedl.htm
Syracuse Research
Corporation is still selling "derivative" forms of the EPI Suite
programs (DLL versions, source code licenses, Internet versions) ... for
additional information, please contact Bill Meylan at
meylan@syrres.com
or Dr. Philip Howard at howardp@syrres.com.
November 2000 - Bug
Notice - a problem was discovered in the Level III Fugacity Model
regarding incorrect interpretation of negative numbers being transferred
from the Ultimate Biodegradation module (BIOWIN) ... negative numbers
were being interpreted as positive numbers. This problem only affected
extremely recalcitrant estimations from the Ultimate Biodegradation
module ... the effect in the Level III model was to shorten the
estimated soil-water-sediment half-lives and lessen the overall
persistence times. An updated Level III Model file can be downloaded
from the Updates Page.
June 2000 - The
PHYSPROP Database has been updated significantly with new experimental
data (melting pt, boiling pt, water solubility) and new records ...
PHYSPROP now contains nearly 25,250 chemicals.
Mar 2000 -
BIOWIN has been upgraded to v4.00. Two new predictive models have been
added for the MITI screening test.
Oct 1998 - Bug
Notice: We have discovered, through various user reports and testing,
that EPI (and most of the individual estimation programs) can "crash"
under specific conditions on some computers. The "crash" (program stops
working) can be duplicated as follows:
(1) Run a Calculation
and have the Structure Window depicting the structure.
(2) Minimize the
Structure Window.
(3) Run another
Calculation with the Structure Window minimized ... crash!
The simply work-around
is: Do Not Minimize the Structure Window! Either close it or leave it
(it can moved anywhere on the screen).
