SRC is committed to
supporting the chemical hazard and risk assessment needs of government
and commercial organizations responsible for the evaluation of
occupational and environmental hazards. For more than 20 years, SRC has
provided data collection and evaluation services in the environmental
sciences to:
- U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency
- National Library of
Medicine
- Occupational Safety
and Health Administration
- Agency for Toxic
Substances and Disease Registry
- Department of
Defense
SRC has prepared over
4,000 technical reviews on hundreds of chemicals and chemical classes,
making SRC one of the most experienced, non-government, not-for-profit
specialists in chemical hazard assessment. Technical strengths of SRC in
health and environmental sciences include:
- Development and
application of advanced concepts in quantitative exposure and risk
assessment for single chemicals and mixtures
- Critical review and
analysis of toxicological and environmental literature
- Development of
environmental and toxicological data bases
Health and
Environmental Assessments
SRC scientists perform hazard evaluations, exposure assessments,
dose-response analyses, and risk characterizations of single chemicals
and chemical mixtures. SRC has prepared assessments on several thousand
chemicals, including hundreds of assessments to assist EPA in deriving
inhalation Reference Concentrations, Oral Reference doses and cancer
potency values. SRC assists EPA in conducting and reviewing site risk
characterizations for Superfund.
Risk Assessment
Research
SRC scientists participate in the latest developments in risk assessment
methodology and develop new approaches to complex assessments. SRC
assisted EPA in developing guidelines for assessing risks associated
with exposure to chemical mixtures and risks associated with direct and
indirect exposures to municipal waste combustor emissions and other
stationary sources. SRC's research program currently includes projects
that span most of the current issues confronting risk assessors,
including problems in single chemical assessment, modeling complex
mixtures, multimedia exposures, comparative risk and pollution
prevention models.
Lead Archive
(pdf)
A bibliography of technical reports on lead toxicology and risk
assessment.
SRC scientists staff a hotline for EPA called
the
IEUBK Technical Support Center .
IEUBK is the Integrated Exposure Uptake Biokinetic Model for lead in
children. The SRC scientists address lead contamination concerns from
regulators, industry and the public.
Metals Bibliography
(pdf)
A bibliography of technical reports on the toxicology of metals (this
will be available soon).
Bioavailability Data
on Metals
Evaluated data relevant to estimating the bioavailability of metals in
humans
ISE Model Software
The Integrated Stochastic Exposure (ISE) Model is a probabilistic
exposure model developed by SRC for use in childhood lead risk
assessments. ISE uses the same exposure, uptake, and biokinetic
variables as the U.S. EPA IEUBK Model for Lead in Children.

for a selected list of our recent publications organized by category and
chronologically.
Special Topics and
Chemical Classes
SRC has prepared over 50 monographs/profiles for process industries that
produce or consume chemicals, or have other health concerns (e.g. noise,
fibers, etc.). These are listed under
Special Topics. For 30 years SRC has developed numerous chemical
monographs/profiles sponsored by industry and government that have
included tens of thousands of chemicals. Many of these are listed under
Chemical Classes.
Recent Reports and
Presentations
See our Reports & Presentations section
for presentations which can be viewed and reports which can be
downloaded. Most of SRC's recent presentations at the annual meetings of
the Society of Toxicology are available here. |
