Charlottesville, VA – SRC, Inc., formerly Syracuse Research Corporation, has awarded Tyler Gibson, a second year engineering student at Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC), the SRC Engineering Scholarship. The scholarship will help Gibson pursue an engineering degree at a four-year higher education institution.
“We are excited about this new partnership with PVCC, and hope that the SRC Scholarship will further student interest in technology fields,” stated Robert Behler, SRC president and CEO. “Our goal is to provide support to help tomorrow’s engineers and scientists complete the technical education needed to enter the workforce and make an impact.”
As a community partner, SRC strives to foster growth and development within the communities where the company does business. Their primary philanthropic focus is on education and activities related to science and technology.
Gibson maintains a 3.8 grade point average and exemplifies values embraced by many SRC employees, including dedication to academic excellence, community involvement and pursuit of engineering endeavors. While he excels academically, Gibson is also recognized by his professors as prepared and engaged. He hopes to attend the University of Virginia or Virginia Tech to complete his engineering degree. Gibson is also a musician playing both violin and guitar, and volunteers through his church.
