New York State Technology Enterprise Corporation & Syracuse Research
Corporation to Open Rome Facility with Ceremony
Rome, NY, July 30,
2004 - Representative Sherwood Boehlert (R-New Hartford) is an
honored guest as the New York State Technology Enterprise Corporation (NYSTEC)
and its affiliate Syracuse Research Corporation (SRC) host a
ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house today, July 30, to present their
new research facility to the Rome community. The new building is located
at 52 Geiger Road in the Griffiss Business and Technology Park.
NYSTEC and SRC join a
number of companies that have recently established offices in the Rome
area. The facility’s opening supports Congressman Boehlert’s strategy to
promote the area’s central role in providing expertise in information
technology research. The 10,200 sq. ft. building consists of the old Air
Force Base Library and a new addition, and houses over 55 people for the
companies. The July 30 ceremony will begin with opening remarks from
Congressman Boehlert and NYSTEC/SRC President & CEO, Robert U. Roberts.
A reception will follow the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Rep. Boehlert said,
“SRC’s decision to open a new office in Rome is further evidence of the
potential that is being realized at the Griffiss Business Technology
Park. SRC will be an exciting partner for the exceptional research being
done at Griffiss and it's been a pleasure to work with them to continue
our vision for a cutting edge technology center. This new office will
provide critical support for the Air Force Research Lab (AFRL) and other
Griffiss partners, as well as economic opportunities for the community.
We welcome SRC to Rome and look forward to a prosperous relationship
with them.”
NYSTEC serves as an
advisor to numerous government agencies and private institutions. The
company assists clients with planning, procuring, and integrating new
communications and computing systems and technologies. To help clients
acquire, integrate and secure their systems, NYSTEC applies proven
processes for technology acquisition and integration adapted partly from
the U.S. Air Force.
In the new space, SRC
will accommodate the bulk of the Information Technologies Center’s Data
Fusion work. This work helps today’s command and control platform
operators make sense of ever-increasing volumes of data and come up with
actionable intelligence information for making life and death decisions.
Much of this work is completed for the AFRL. The close proximity of the
new building to AFRL’s Rome Research Site will enhance SRC’s working
relationship with the Air Force.

Syracuse
Research Corporation Expanding Operations
July 12, 2004 –
Syracuse
Research Corporation (SRC) is expanding its offices in Syracuse, New
York. A 15,850 square foot addition is being constructed at its
corporate headquarters located at 6225 Running Ridge Road in North
Syracuse. The addition will provide offices for about 60 employees and
allow SRC to accommodate its recent and expected future growth. Other
scheduled changes include a new entrance road, additional parking
spaces, re-landscaping, and improved access throughout the complex.
This growth is the result of several
contract awards and supplemental federal government funding that SRC
recently received, some of which was acquired through the efforts of
U.S. Representative James Walsh. Three of these new contracts
collectively total more than $80 million and will support an
Environmental Protection Agency health and environmental assessment
program; a research and development contract to design, build, integrate
and test a unique airborne radar system for the U.S. Army’s
Communications-Electronics Command; and a follow-on contract to support
an ongoing Intelligence Agency information technologies project. With
Congressman Walsh’s support, SRC continues to grow its operations in
Central New York through contracts that showcase our experience in
numerous business areas that affect projects of national significance.
U.S. Senator Clinton, who was unable to attend, is
another strong supporter of SRC’s growth. She said, "I want to
congratulate Syracuse Research on this expansion project. This
groundbreaking represents yet more growth and investment in the local
economy which I am always pleased to support. It has been a pleasure to
work with Bob Roberts and the team at Syracuse Research and I look
forward to working with them in the future to foster these kinds of
important local commitments."

Syracuse Research Corporation Wins Contract Worth up to $35M
July 1, 2004 -
Syracuse Research Corporation has been awarded a three-year research and
development contract to design, build, integrate and test a unique
airborne radar system for the U.S. Army’s Communications-Electronics
Research, Development and Engineering Center (CERDEC). The contract has
a potential value of $35M.
This three-year, two-phase contract,
funded by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), for the
FOPEN Reconnaissance, Surveillance, Tracking and Engagement Radar
(FORESTER) will leverage many SRC capabilities. FORESTER is a foliage
penetration (FOPEN) radar with both real-time Ground Moving Target
Indicator (GMTI) and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) capabilities. The
objective of SRC's work on the FORESTER Program is to design, build,
integrate, and test a system that can detect and track moving targets
under dense foliage.
Each of the two phases of this program
will span 18 months. The first phase is an effort to produce the radar
and tower test it. The potential second phase then commences with a
10-month effort to integrate and test the radar on a Black Hawk
helicopter. This phase concludes with the integration and test of the
radar on the A160 Hummingbird helicopter unmanned aerial vehicle.
