Select members of SRC’s Operational Integration Business Area in Chantilly, VA were recently recognized by the NRO for their communications excellence. Syracuse Research Corporation Celebrates 50th Anniversary In Style

Syracuse, NY, July 23, 2007 – Syracuse Research Corporation commemorated its 50th Anniversary on July 13-15, 2007, by bringing employees, retirees, board members, and special guests from the company’s nationwide locations to Syracuse, NY for a weekend of entertainment. Almost 1,200 guests in total participated in the weekend events.

President and CEO Bob Roberts stated, “We are very fortunate to be celebrating 50 years of success. Our employees are responsible for the nationally significant achievements we have enjoyed. SRC makes it a top priority to recognize our employees by celebrating our accomplishments and there is a feeling here that everyone is part of our family. This weekend was another way to bring everyone together to build relationships while rewarding the people that make our business great. Central New York is our headquarters and we plan to expand our business here. We look forward to many more years in this supportive community. Every day I consider myself lucky to work with such intelligent people in a creative, challenging environment.”

The weekend’s festivities began on Friday, July 13 with an open house for employees and their guests at SRC’s two buildings in North Syracuse and at SRCTec, a manufacturing subsidiary of SRC, also located in North Syracuse. The open house included tours of the buildings and showcased various technical demonstrations.

Friday evening, SRC had its own version of the “Taste of Syracuse” at the Everson Museum. The event was orchestrated by CenterStage, the creators of the popular annual Central New York event. The menu consisted of specialties from many of Syracuse’s local restaurants, including Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, Dominick’s, Eva’s European Sweets, Jalapeno’s, Joey’s, Kitty Hoynes and Little Thai House. Musical entertainment was provided by Ronnie Leigh, Donna Colton, and the Noisy Boys. Later in the evening, an exclusive pyro-technic/laser show delighted the crowd. The Everson gallery was also open for viewing.

On Saturday, July 14, pre-arranged tours of popular Central New York locations gave out-of-town employees and their guests a taste of the regional culture. Destinations included Skaneateles, Cooperstown, Turning Stone Casino and Resort, and the Finger Lakes wine country. BTI The Travel Consultants coordinated all the excursions, the travel to Syracuse, the hotel reservations (at the Genesee Grande, Parkview, Renaissance and Sheraton University Hotels), and the transportation for the weekend. BTI created a special Web site to secure reservations and confirm individual itineraries.

On Saturday evening, SRC hosted the culminating event – a semi-formal Gala at the Oncenter. The menu included hors d’oeuvres; carving, pasta and salad stations; fruit and cheese tables; and delectable desserts. Instead of a traditional sit down dinner, there were numerous seating areas and cocktail tables that encouraged mingling. Musical entertainment was provided by the Billionaires, for whom SRC employee Greg Coulombe plays bass. Bach Studios Photography was on-hand to take both candid and commemorative couple photographs.

After both evening events, SRC provided transportation for guests to experience Armory Square. In addition, the company provided complimentary breakfasts and transportation to all the weekend activities. The Syracuse Convention and Visitors Bureau also assisted with the logistics and provided staff for the registration tables at each event as well as airport greeting tables with information.

Syracuse Research Corporation Celebrates 50 Years

Syracuse, NY, February 15, 2007 – Syracuse Research Corporation is celebrating 50 successful years of business in 2007.

“Celebrating 50 years is quite the accomplishment,” said SRC President and Chief Executive Officer Bob Roberts. “The hard work and dedication of our employees has helped make the first 50 years of SRC an unbelievable success, and we are looking forward to another successful 50 years.”

Founded in 1957 as a Syracuse University not-for-profit organization, SRC was originally named Syracuse University Research Corporation (SURC). SURC was chartered by New York State to work on research and development projects of significance to America’s interests. SURC enabled Syracuse University’s entrepreneurial faculty to obtain grants and contracts for research projects. SURC functioned as a “trusted advisor” for the U.S. government in the key areas of engineering and environmental life sciences.

In 1976, SURC separated from Syracuse University and became Syracuse Research Corporation. Although a separate entity, SRC remained on campus until 1997. At that time, due to significant growth and business circumstances, SRC moved its corporate headquarters to the current location at Running Ridge Road in North Syracuse.

During the past 50 years, SRC has grown from 25 employees and $175K in annual revenue to approximately 800 employees and $489M in annual revenue. Throughout this time, SRC has achieved many accomplishments of national significance for the Intelligence Community, Department of Defense, Environmental Protection Agency, and Department of Homeland Security.

Most recently in 2006, SRC’s first generation counter remote control improvised explosive device electronic warfare system – Counter Measure Protection System – received the “Army’s Top 10 Inventions” Award. CMPS protects protects against Remote-Controlled Improvised Explosive Devices, better known as roadside bombs, which are the number one killer used by enemy insurgents in Iraq today. SRC also received the same award for the Lightweight Counter-Mortar Radar (LCMR) in 2005. This award distinguishes best technological solutions for soldiers, and how these new technologies increase convenience and competence for the U.S. Army.

SRC’s security and human resource programs have also been recognized for excellence. SRC is an eight time winner of the James S. Cogswell Award (Cogswell Award) for achievement in security excellence. The Cogswell Award is the most prestigious security award given to the industry by the U.S. Defense Security Service (DSS). This year, only 29 facilities were selected to receive the award out of more than 11,000 eligible government contractors, including almost 200 in Upstate New York. Additionally, in 2005 and 2006, SRC was awarded the Donlon Award for outstanding commitment in creating a family-friendly workplace. The Donlon Awards are given to companies throughout the region recognizing these organizations as employers of choice in Central New York.

Locally, the Technology Alliance of Central New York (TACNY) recently recognized SRC for its technology innovation and employee talent with numerous awards: Technology Company of the Year; Project of the Year; and Young Technologist of the Year, Benjamin Greenblatt. TACNY’s awards recognize and celebrate the achievements of Central New York (CNY) individuals, educators, companies and projects, highlighting CNY as a rewarding place to learn and work.

In 2006, SRC also created a for-profit company, SRCTec, Inc. SRCTec, a wholly owned subsidiary of SRC, is a high-tech manufacturing company providing integrated solutions, program management, full life-cycle support, and state-of-the-art products to a broad range of customers.

“During the next 50 years, SRC will continue to focus on our customers’ needs through the innovative application of science, technology, and information to solve problems of national significance,” Roberts added. “2007 is going to be a banner year for SRC and its employees. We are planning numerous activities to celebrate our many successes including an event for all employees nationwide this summer.”
