SRC developed the AN/PPS-5D for the U.S. Army, as a cost-effective alternative for of aging AN/PPS-5 A/B systems. This upgrade completely replaced the existing electronics while retaining the antenna, feed tripod, azimuth drive and telescope assemblies. We made dramatic improvements in performance, reliability and maintainability while reducing size, weight and power consumption. The upgraded radar is capable of detecting vehicles to a range of 20 km and personnel to 10 km. A rugged laptop computer enables operation up to 50m from the radar set. Targets are displayed graphically in PPI format. Target information, including range, bearing and UTM coordinates are also displayed. Multiple power supply options are available including 12 or 24 VDC vehicle power and 85-240VAC, 50-60Hz.
