The Toxic Substance Control Act Test Submission Database (TSCATS) was developed by SRC for the EPA in 1985. It is a central system for the collection, maintenance, and dissemination of information on unpublished technical reports submitted by industry to the EPA under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). Studies on over 8,000 chemicals are categorized into three broad subject areas (health effects, environmental effects, and environmental fate). Searches can be conducted using these subject areas plus additional indexing terms from the controlled vocabulary of testing protocol describing observations (i.e., species, duration of study, etc.). More detail on the TSCATS databases are provided in Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry, Volume 6, pp. 921-927 (1987).
TSCATS is available for free on our TSCATS website, but it has not been updated since 12/08/2004. Some newer records may be available from TSCATS2.
Unpublished reports may be ordered on fiche from the National Technical Information Service (NTIS) using the fiche number listed in the document reference. Their phone number is 1(800)553-6847, Mon.-Fri. 8AM-6PM EST. You may also search for documents by title at their site.
Sample TSCATS Searching Screens

The main TSCATS search screen allows the user to select the chemical, section of TSCA under which the study was submitted, and the type of output desired.

The second TSCATS search screen allows the user to select any or all of study types of interest.
